Off the couch!: Moretti canyon hike
Off the couch!: Moretti canyon hike: Scenic, pastoral 3.2 mile trail on a crisp February day. Well- maintained dirt road weaves past ranch houses, cows, horses, shetland ponies, friendly dogs, and hawks above. Some elevation, but mostly an easy trek.
Joining me on this hike were Linda, Gale, Deb, Susan, and that sweet dog, Balloo!

Sycamore Springs Trail
On Friday last, Linda Burke and I hiked to the top of the Sycamore Springs trail and were rewarded with a panoramic view of the blue Pacific below. The trail is challenging...a steady incline...but wide and with a number of fellow hikers to keep us company ...dogs, too. Afterward, I met Kathy McGrath for a picnic lunch at the ocean park off Indio Street in Shell Beach. Boy, did I sleep good that night with all that fresh ocean air and exercise!
Bob Jones to the Beach
Kathy joined me on a beautiful Sunday morning for the 4+ mile hike on the Bob Jones trail to the beach and back home. Our route took us via the timeshare resort and onto the beachfront where we stopped for a bite at JoMommas. Perfect weather AGAIN and great exercise for a Sunday morning. At the beach, we saw swimmers in their wetsuits swimming out around the pier. Water was calm...it seemed the perfect day for a swim.

The Bluffs Hike...Shell Beach
This hike is the Bluffs in Shell Beach which starts on El Portal Drive in Shell Beach and continues through the Bluffs housing development...very expensive homes...and continues along the ocean front, looking down on Pirate's Cove, a sometimes "nude" beach!
Ridge Hike~ San Luis Bay Estates: January 2012
This hike is on a trail high above our homes in San Luis Bay Estates. Wildflowers, ocean views and wildlife abounds! This photo is looking East, down on the Pelican Point Condos where we first lived when we moved to Avila Beach! This hike is a challenging little climb at first, then levels off at the top. The trails in and around San Luis Bay estates are awesome!
Cerro San Luis Climb... January 2012
Today, I hiked to the summit of Cerro San Luis with friends Linda, Terrie, and Deb and her dog Balloo. This is the mountain behind the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. It was great that about 1/2 way up, we were invited to try cactus fruit by a man who was harvesting these. It tasted like watermelon.
The hike was a steady incline, although nothing too steep. At the top, we were rewarded with a fabulous view of San Luis Obispo and the ocean in the distance, behind Montana de Oro. Deb's dog, Balloo joined us on the hike and was a very good dog!
